I enlisted in the Marine Corps on 5 may 1966. I went to Vietnam in 1967-1968. I remember a guy I met by the name of Birdsong while serving in the third battalion first marine regiment kilo company in the northern I corps. Camp Carrol, rt. 9.Dung-Ha, I was also stationed aboard the 7th fleet. USS Valley forge, USS Thomaston, Wetstone, Vancouver, I have never forgotten this man "Birdsong". I wonder if you can be this person. If any of this means anything to you, please e mail me. My nick name was "Nose". I seem to be able to smell the enemy out in the field.

Your great grandfather, Adam, was my grandfather. My parents were Alex and Helen Giesick. I remember seeing you many years ago, but I don't remember the circumstances. My brother, Homer, lived in Denver and was employed at Gates. My sister, Marilyn, lived in Albuquerque. I am the only surviving member of my "family of origin". I came across your website quite by accident. My husband, Lonny, and I live in Paola, KS where we raised three children and now have two grown granddaughters. I will spend more time on this website--so glad to find a bit of Giesick history.
